Scenic Texture is a two-day hands-on course held at the Makinarium workshop inside Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire.
You will learn to use Idenden hard coat, a professional-grade material used across the film and TV industry, to create convincing columns, fake rock faces, brickwork, marble finishes and other architectural and geological surfaces.
These are the techniques that fill sets, dress locations and make audiences believe they are looking at solid stone when they are looking at carefully crafted lightweight construction.
Over two days you will work through multiple surface types, understanding how each is approached differently, how texture is built up, how finishes are sealed and how the results hold up under lighting conditions.
You will leave with a portfolio of surface samples, a working knowledge of Idenden and its applications, and the practical skills to apply these techniques on a real production.
This is one of the most transferable and in-demand skill sets in set decoration, and it is being taught by the people who use it on major productions.
