Weathering & Ageing Materials for Film is a one-day intensive held at the Makinarium workshop inside Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire.
In a single day you will cover the full range of ageing and weathering techniques applied to the five core material groups; metal, wood, fabric, plastic and resin.
Learning how each material behaves differently and how professional results are achieved on each. Techniques covered include dry brushing, oil washes, pigment dusting, chemical treatments, deliberate distressing, rust simulation, grime layering, paint wear and patina effects.
This is one of the most universally applicable skills in the industry.
Every prop, costume and set piece that appears on screen has either been aged or made to look like it hasn't been. Both require the same fundamental understanding of how materials age in the real world and how to replicate that for camera.
Whether you are working in props, set decoration, costume or model making, the techniques from this course apply directly to your work from the moment you walk out the door.
